I am always looking for more toy storage or just storage solutions in general, I am also a huge fan of storage that looks nice on it's own and just happens to be storage. While browsing IKEA for a few things I needed, I happened upon this plant basket..

It's pretty big, as you can see my daughter even fits inside. It's also very sturdy and strong as it's made to hold big pot plants and move them around.

I picked a spot from where I wanted to paint a section, made sure I also covered the white handles all the way to the bottom as I wanted to keep them white.

I just painted the bottom with Blue Cobalt Acrylic paint with a brush ( a lot easier than spray paint prep).

I wasn't sure if I wanted to label the basket 'TOYS' or something else. I decided on a year (that both my parents were born) as I wanted to be able to use it as a blanket/throw basket once those toys slowly disappear. I also wanted to make a seem a bit more vintage and beachy.

I started dabbing a sponge brush into black paint and then onto the stencil, this however didn't turn out so well and I continued with a thin brush just filling in and tracing the stencil.

I needed to touch up the stencil a bit so I used nail polish remover (NOT acetone free) and a cotton tip to slowly fix the paint.

I love the way it turned out and realised I could always changed what I have stencilled on or changed the paint colour. For now however, it is perfect for what I wanted in the living room.
